Here are the steps to update & download Mi Band 2 firmware
Step 1: Go to the following link https://f-droid.org/repository/browse/?fdid=nodomain.freeyourgadget.gadgetbridge. Next, unpair the band from the Mi Fit app and any other apps before downloading the app. Then, in Gadgetbridge, ensure that the band is recognized and indicated as linked after installing the app and follow the steps below in this post.
Step 2: Download the ‘Mili_pro 53.fw’ and ‘Mili_pro 2.2.1. fw’ firmwares based on the instructions on this page
Step 3: Open the file ‘Mili_pro 53.fw’ that was downloaded previously using a file explorer such as ES File Explorer. The Gadgetbridge app will now open this file, and the firmware will be updated.
Step 4: Open Gadgetbridge after the Firmware update activity and double-check that the band is visible and linked. If not, erase the band by holding down the long-press button and search again.
Step 5: Now, open the file ‘Mili_pro 2.2.1.fw’ that was downloaded before in a file explorer. The Gadgetbridge app will now open this file, and the firmware will be updated.
Note: Mi Band 2 firmware changes from 1.0.0.* to subsequent versions (>1.0.1.*) need first upgrading to an intermediate firmware version, and a downgrade of firmware versions is also available.
Step 6: Open the heart rate sensor and verify that the heart rate measurement is operational. When the band is linked to the app, the time will be synchronized. Also, check the heart rate for different instances to get an accurate measurement.
Step 7: Remove the band from the Gadgetbridge application on your phone.
Step 8: Add the band to the MiFit app you downloaded earlier on your phone. If you update the Mi Fit app, it will automatically update the firmware file; therefore, turn off the auto-update.
